What happens to our rubbish in Cornwall?

Club members visited Bodmin Materials Recycling Facility and the Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre.

June 7th 2022: Visit to Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre (CERC) and Bodmin Materials Recycling Facility (MRF). Falmouth Rotarians spent the day at the two centres and learned where all our rubbish goes. There are no landfills in use in Cornwall anymore which means that every piece of rubbish is either recycled or incinerated. Energy given off from burning 'black sack' waste is sold back to the National Grid.
