Guest speaker is Rian, a Rotary Scholar from Japan currently studying in Edinburgh. She will be joining our meeting by Zoom to tell us about her time in Scotland and why she chose to sturdy here.
The Rotary Foundation offers scholarship funding through the Rotary Foundation Global Grants for graduate-level coursework or research in a subject covered by one of Rotary's seven areas of focus.
Rian Matsui
Rian Matsui, 23, is from Japan.
She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Comparative Education and International Development at the University of Edinburgh.
Back in Japan, she worked with refugees, immigrants and ethnic minorities through volunteering in NGOs, and working as a member/ research assistant for her university’s refugee support group.
She has witnessed so many incredible people with strong passion and amazing skills feeling powerless just because of their background/ status. Therefore, she is looking into the role education plays in empowering these people as well as measures to ensure that ethnic minorities and refugees are able to utilise their background and experience and become an important part of the society.

On 24th May Allander Rotary presented a cheque for £2000 to RNIB. The fund raising including donations by readers of an autobiography by Colin Robertson, a founder member, and selling furniture. Full details below.

Record of the winners and money raised for East Dunbartonshire Foodbank from a Hamper Raffle in December 2022. 675 tickets sold. Additional donations means £800 going to the ED Foodbank.

The Firth o Clyde Rotary Trail (FoCRT) runs from the Mull of Galloway to Milngavie via Greenock and the Erskine Bridge. The route comprises the Mull of Galloway Trail, The Ayrshire Coastal Path and the Clyde Coastal Path.
