Bickford Centre Refurbished

The Bickford Centre, founded by Torrington Rotary in the 1960s when the club purchased the freehold and donated it to the Bickford Centre Trust, has recently undergone a major refurbishment.  

In the 60 years since it first opened, the Centre has become a lifeline for those over 60s who enjoy socialising and might otherwise be lonely.   You will often see a few gentlefolk enjoying a coffee or tea, chatting away happily having done their shopping.    

Now the Centre has been upgraded to facilitate disabled access, and the interior has received a facelift including new facilities.   The installation of a new kitchen,  modern disabled toilets, better heating and lighting etc., has been made possible by grants from local authorities and fundraising.    Our club has donated over £1000 towards the project.
