Click here to see how YOU could become a ROTARIAN !

The district website exists to promote Rotary and the work that we do to a wider audience as well as to serve the Rotarians of the district. Rotary International is a service organisation of 1.2 million members who want to improve the lives of people throughout the world.

Eradication of polio is Rotary's number one priority - and we're almost there. But we also promote world peace, alleviate hunger, reduce poverty and child mortality.

"One thing is for certain. The world would not be where it is without Rotary, and it won't get where it needs to go without Rotary." Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, January 2009

 PAKISTAN FLOOD APPEAL

Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI) is launching an appeal to help the hundreds of thousands of people affected by the Pakistan floods. Donations to the RIBI Donations Trust Pakistan Flood Appeal will be used to aid the long-term rebuilding of communities in the affected areas.

RIBI President Jim Moulson said: "This is a tragedy of an unimaginable scale. Those who survived the initial flooding are now living in fear of what may happen next. Rotary members are working hard to provide a future for them and this fund will go some way to bring hope and stability.

"The Donations Trust has been used to bring relief from the Boxing Day Tsunami, the Australia Bushfires and, more recently, the Haiti Earthquake. Schools, homes, community centres and much more have been provided to these affected areas, enabling people to reclaim their lives. The work to rebuild the battered communities in Pakistan will be a long road and one which Rotary will support.

"Thanks to the generosity of the public, hundreds of ShelterBoxes, Aquaboxes and Water Survival Boxes have already been sent out to Pakistan, direct from these organisations, and more are on the way to provide immediate relief.

Through the Donations Trust, Rotarians will be there to support recovery in this devastated country."

Any donations should be sent to:
RIBI Donations Trust

The RIBI Donations Trust was created to provide funding for sustainable projects such as rebuilding communities affected by disaster. This could include constructing homes, replacing lifeboats, providing new rescue vehicles and building primary schools.

Appeals can be created for individual disasters, both at home and abroad.
