The very light and comfortable equipment is worn by the patient for about a week, and then on return to the health centre the result is downloaded onto a computer and then transmitted to Consultants in heart conditions at the John Radcliffe or Stoke Mandeville Hospitals for immediate diagnosis and recommendations for the treatment of the patient. Until this equipment was brought into use it could have been many months before the heart irregularly actually happened while the patient was in the surgery and a record could be made.
The money was the Thame Rotary Club's share of the proceeds for acting as stewards with the Thame Witchert Rotary Club at the Horse Event at Waddesdon Manor earlier this year.
The ceremony was held at the Waddesdon Village Hall.
