Ø     Pakistan Flood Emergency

I have included this copy of email from Gareth Rees sent to all clubs in case not already received.

"I have heard from Andrew Hughes who leads the meeting of International Chairmen for each RIBI district. He writes the following:

I've posted a disaster update on the RIBI website this morning and I've spoken to RIBI President Jim. The immediate need is for clean water and shelter so I'm asking Rotarians to support Aquabox, Water Survival Box and Shelterbox in the first instance. Can you please circulate your clubs and keep your District Governor up to date."

Here below is the article from the website, and you can see that Shelterbox is already in action. I have a Water Survival Box (£150) if any Club would like to see one. District Governor Donna has sent details to clubs of a large consignment of LifeStraws which are also being deployed.

While I hesitate to ask again following the magnificent response to the Haiti appeal from Clubs in District 1150, the situation in Pakistan looks terrible. If you were planning to support a box project this Rotary Year and feel able to bring it forward, please do so.

Write to me if you need any information about how to subscribe to Aquabox, Water Survival Box or Shelterbox.

Gareth Rees, Chairman, International Projects, District 1150

Ø    Rotary Christmas Puddings – yes its that time of year again already!

Brian Forster of the Rotary Club of Cwmbran Vale writes:

We have now raised over £70,000 for minefield clearance in four years and are selling our puddings again this year.  They are even better quality, sold at the same inclusive price of £10 and delivered free to your destination of choice.  Thus, for example, if a Rotarian persuades a local businessman to buy a whole case (12 puds) or two, we can arrange delivery direct.

Our leaflet hopefully provides all the information needed and is available on the District web site  but if any queries arise, please address them to me at:  brian@rotaryxmaspuds.co.uk

Ø    Attendance roundel

Simon Kalson, Secretary District 1270, Rotary Club of Cleethorpes writes "I have been inundated by clubs wanting a supply of the attendance roundel, as their stocks run out - as you will be aware ROSS no longer supplies them.  My District Shop can supply the full size (245mm diameter) club attendance roundel, double-sided, at approximately 30 pence each, in packs of 50 or 100, plus postage. They will be available from end of September. They come on a square sheet with a dotted circular line to trim around.  If you wish please make the clubs in your district aware of the availability".  Orders can be placed through Simon at: simon@inter-travel.co.uk
