President's Evening - 2010

An evening of fun and fellowship at the Ramside Hall Hotel ...


Something like 111 Rotarians and their guests attended this historic occasion - the first lady president's evening since our Club was founded in 1923.

Among our special guests, President Margaret welcomed the Deputy Mayor of Durham, Cllr. Les Thompson and the Deputy Mayoress Mrs Lucille Thomson, the Presidetn of the Durham Caledonian Society Mrs Yvonne Melville and her husband Mr Douglas Melville and our own District Governor Les Fay and his wife Norma.

In accordance with a long-established tradition, we welcomed the President of the Durham Caledonian Society - Mrs Yvonne Melville and her husband Douglas.

We were also very happy to welcome our Assistant District Governor, Jean Thompson, the Presidents, members and guests of the Rotary Clubs of Durham Bede, Barnard Castle, Consett, Spennymoor and Stanley - and our Ambassadorial Scholar, Claire Pepperd from the USA.

In welcoming everyone, President Margaret explained that we would be holding a raffle after the meal, the proceeds of which would be in aid one of her favoured charities - Sunderland Adaptive Snowsports.
