Home | Friendship Exchange | Get Involved Now! with Friendship Exchange 2011
ROTARY FRIENDSHIP EXCHANGE Friendship Exchange is an exchange between ROTARIANS in one District with those in another District in another country. We are planning to visit another part of the world, Wisconsin, USA early October 2011 for a nine day visit. Naturally we will also be expected to host ROTARIANS from that country on their visit to our District from 9th to 18th April 2011. The previous Friendship Exchanges enjoyed by District 1240 have been with New Zealand (2008), South Africa (2005), India, Iceland, Norway, Australia, USA and Canada. These activities have been reported in 1240 News. From these exchanges many friendships have been made. Many participants have made contacts, which not only encourage further visits to foreign countries, but have initiated charitable contacts for International support by clubs in this District. Being District 1240 Friendship Exchange Officer with the assistance of Rotarian Gloria Bunting (Manningtree Stour Valley) we are looking for support in all parts of District 1240 to ensure that Friendship Exchange continues to be successful. We are looking for clubs in three areas within the District whose members will commit to hosting up to six couples for a period of three days. These clubs will need to produce a programme for both hosts and visitors which will be cultural, entertaining and promoting Rotary Fellowship. Our visitors will expect to visit Rotary Clubs, local attractions appertaining to your area. Your support would be appreciated to host guests prior to agreeing to the next project. Costs are minimal, as those visiting are expected to pay all expenses including meals. In practice over a three day stay the hosts will entertain on one evening, usually at home or with family and friends. Visiting guests will join in at a club evening at their own expense. On another evening it is normal for the visitors to invite their hosts for a meal in a local restaurant at their cost. Visits to places of interest that incur a cost will be borne by the individuals. Past participants have gained from the experience, and many have made visits to the area and their hosts at a later date. This is Rotary at it’s best. We hope you as clubs, by getting involved, will be able to help make this a success and look forward to hearing from you if you can be of help. Please indicate your willingness to host or make a visit. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
