District Rotary Young Chef final was held at Bettys Cookery School. The event was very successful with a wonderful selection of dishes planned, prepared and cooked by the six finalists.

 The winner was 16 year old Taryn Agar and the runner up was 12 year old Holly Marshall.

Taryn is 16 years old and is a pupil at Harrogate High School. Sponsored by the Rotary club ofTaryn receiving prize from Keith Davison Harrogate Brigantes. Taryn was the winner of the North group final.Her menu included: Crab and Ginger Miso Soup - Pan Fried Salmon and Tempura Apples - jenga style. She will now go forward to the regional final, which this year will be held in District1040 at Harrogate High School on Saturday 19th March.
Holly is 12 years old and attends Hipperholme Grammar HollySchool. She was sponsored by the Rotary club of Halifax and was the winner of the SW group.Holly will also go through to the regional final at Harrogate High school.

North group – 16 yr old Taryn Agar from Harrogate High School - winner

East group - 14 year old Emma Coulson from Fulford School

It was a super event and the six finalists did a fantastic job. All the dishes looked wonderful and they worked so hard to produce some very difficult meals.

I would like to thank all the clubs who participated in Rotary Young Chef this year. Also the teachers and parents who also supported the project.

This event is only successful because of their support and the support we receive from Bettys Cookery School. Richard Jones, the cookery school manager, along with course tutor Marcus Pepper had a very difficult job judging the very varied work produced by our finalists.
