The Rotary Club of Oswestry has been running the Millicent Kaye Art Competition since 1996 in memory of well known local artist Millicent Kaye who died in that year. The competition is open to children in years 5 and 6 in local primary schools. Prizes, which are awarded to both winning schools and to individual students, are funded out of the Mary Hignett Bequest Fund, which is administered by the Club. There is a Millicent Kaye Memorial Trophy that is awarded to the school with the entry judged to be best in the competition.

There was a strong entry in 2011 with ten schools entering work from approaching 400 pupils. The winners will be announced at QUBE in Oswestry on Monday 20th June at 11:45 am, when the prizes will also be distributed. A selection of the work, including the competition winners, will be on display at QUBE for two weeks from 17th June until 4th July.
