Nineteen budding chefs from ten schools in Calderdale fought ‘knife and fork’ to be crowned winner of their heat on Thursday 17th November.

The event was held at the magnificent setting of The Cookery School at Dean Clough in Halifax. The latter is a charity in itself and all of the proceeds of the operation go to support local schools and community work - getting kids to cook!

However after a gruelling one and a half hours over hot stoves there could be but one winnerCalderdale Young chef Judges. Brett Woodward on behalf of the judges said it had been a difficult task separating the top three presentations. It was the first time Brett had been invited to judge our competition and at the onset he did not know what to expect. He commented though that the standards of cooking and presentation had surprised even him. Well done to all the Calderdale young chefs.
