Rotary International District 1230
Home | Community
Community Service is one of the five avenues of service within Rotary. Until recently it has been combined with Vocational Service and this year the District Committee is in a transitional phase pending the establishment of a new Vocational Service Committee.
Community Service is concerned with volunteering, fund raising and “giving in kind” to support our own communities. The nature and extent of projects varies according to the needs of a specific community ( Click here - Community Assesment Tool)
Guidance on how to design and deliver a successful project is available on the RI document “ Communities in Action ( Click here - Communities in Action )
Within District 1230, under the broad heading of Community Service, we have a special interest in Rotary’s Environmental and Literacy goals, and the subject of Resilience (in the context of providing support in the event of local disasters).
Iain Christie and John Waddell serve on the Committee as District Environment Officer and Resilience Officer respectively.
To help you with the planning of club projects, a Resource Sheet on Literacy is available on this web site as are copies of the Environment Newsletters issued by Iain Christie.
