Service Above Self Award Certificates

The purpose of this Community & Vocational Service Award is to recognise outstanding service to the local community by Rotarians or non-Rotarians alike.

Criteria / guidelines

Each case will be different and should be judged on its merit therefore, it is difficult to set down specific criteria for clubs to follow. However, RIBI feels that clubs should take into account the following guidance when considering a nomination for the award:-

The nominee must have carried out an act, or acts, beyond and above what would be normally accepted/expected. The nomination must relate to matters which impressed the nominator and which stimulated change within their own community.

The person nominated can either be a Rotarian or a person from within the local community. However, it is very important to maintain standards and protect the integrity of the scheme such that certificates should only be awarded to people who are worthy of the recognition.

The nominated person must agree to accept the award and be made aware of the possibility of newspaper coverage, particularly at a local level.
