New District Environmental Officer
As some of you will be know we have at long last been able to find someone to take on the post of District Environmental Officer. The purpose of this brief note is to introduce the incumbent and ask for you help in putting him in touch with the right contacts.
The District Environmental Officer post has been taken up by Rotarian Andy Tanner who is from the Rotary Club of Dorking. Although relatively new to Rotary he has a long standing interest in environmental issues. After taking early retirement from his job with a Global Multinational Andy gained an MA in Environment Politics and Globalization at King's in London, and has since worked on various community projects and is a founder member of Transition Dorking which is part of the global transition movement.
He is of course happy to visit any district club and talk about environmental issues and the challenges they pose. His focus is very much upon practical projects which will benefit the environment, and which can capture the interest of the local community (and local Rotary Clubs). This fits well with our wider Rotary role to be part of and strengthen our local communities.
If your club has an environmental officer, or indeed anyone with a particular interest in environmental affairs, could they please make contact with Andy. He is at environmental@district1250.org
