Schools 4all project
I have pleasure in releasing to you the list of the first 20 schools for the programme.
Officers of LCD are currently in Uganda working with the programme team to assess the needs of the schools, working and interviewing Head Teachers. They have started the process of planning a number of community based meetings to start the process of the community based rehabilitation programme/training. They are also working on the development of budgets for each school.
Many clubs and districts have already stated that they
wish to take on a school and may wish to register their interest only at this
stage as the individual budgets are not yet available. It is to be assumed that
the larger schools will require more funding. The following show will give you a feel for the project and what the funds will be used for. Click Here to download the Presentation in PDF format.

Matching Grants
DG D1020 Alasdair Seale has been tasked with the coordinating a Competitive Matching Grant. That is a grant in excess of $25,000 max $150,000. Such grants take time as they are only considered by the Trustees every six months and the full application requires to be lodged approximately 4 months before the Trustee meetings every April and October. If you wish to work in this direction contact should be made with Alasdair. All your collected funds should be held at club or district level until such time as the MG has been approved. They should not be sent to LCD unless specifically marked that the donation is relative to a Matching Grant project and therefore a restricted giving. This allows LCD to forward the monies in due course to the Rotary Foundation to complete the formalities I have sought this requirement as your donations should pass through Rotary Foundation UK (RFUK) to complete the formalities for restricted giving confirmation.
It is hoped that many clubs/districts will take the opportunity to consider applying for a non competitive Matching Grant that has a ceiling of $25,000. It should be born in mind that only 8 grants worldwide are available for partnering charities in the Rotary Year and the opportunity of finding partnering clubs in countries can be difficult as they will be already fully committed. I will be very happy to assist should anyone wish explore this route.
School allocation
The full list of 20 schools in Uganda is available by Clicking Here and you are now asked to submit your request for an allocation. From the interest shown it is very possible that the full list will be exhausted quickly. If this is the case further schools will be identified but these may be in other African countries.
Please submit your request to Helen White at LCD's address above who will maintain the data base for allocation & donations data base.
If you are unable to get an allocation from this initial list please remember that programme will go on for many years and your support will be required.
Full cooperation will be given to those who might wish to make personal visit to one of the locations both for exploratory and delivery.
