Half of the world's poor suffer from waterborne disease, and nearly 6,000 people - mainly children - die each day by consuming unsafe drinking water.

LifeStraw® water purifiers have been developed as a practical way of preventing disease and saving lives, as well as achieving the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe water by the year 2015.

LifeStraw® Personal and LifeStraw® Family are complimentary point-of-use water filters - truly unique offerings from Vestergaard Frandsen that will help people obtain safe drinking water at home and outside - paving the way for swiftly and effectively accomplishing the VF and MDGs.

LifeStraw® Personal has been referred to as 'One of the Ten Things that will Change the Way We Live´ by Forbes Magazine.

LifeStraw® Personal

LifeStraw Personal offers easy access to safe drinking water away from home. It filters a minimum of 700 litres of water, removes 99.999% of waterborne bacteria and kills 99% of waterborne viruses.

It removes particles down to 15 microns and requires no electrical power or spare parts for the life time of the straw. It is also easy to mass-distribute in areas where drinking water is contaminated.

LifeStraw® Family

LifeStraw Family has all the attributes of LifeStraw Personal but is able to filter a minimum of 18,000 litres of water, which can provide safe drinking water for one family for up to 3-years. It has a high flow rate, no running water is required and it contains an easy-to-clean pre-filter as well as a purifier cartridge.

How do we donate a LifeStraw?

You can donate individual LifeStraws by visiting the LifeStraw web site and choosing one of the means by which you can make a donation. This is usually by way of a third party organisation that has chosen to distribute LifeStraws as a charitable project.

LifeBoxes are also one way of making sure that people in need receive LifeStraw in the right quantities and at an appropriate time because each LifeBox contains six LifeStraws.
