Striding towards £30,000 goal

Enhanced facilities for the care of kidney patients have taken a major step forward

And it's all thanks to the dedication and ingenuity of the Rotary Clubs that form District 1020's Borders Area.

Their project this year, in conjunction with "The Difference Charity" set up by the Borders Health Board, was to raise £30,000 for the Kidney Dialysis Appeal and, to date, the fund stands at almost £26,000.

Many events, organised by Rotary and other organisations, have contributed to this impressive achievement and the "Daunder for Dialysis" held in May gave it a huge boost.

The majority of the Borders Rotary Clubs organised and marshalled various stages of the sponsored walk along a part of the Southern Upland Way between St Mary's Loch to Cockburnspath.

Various distances were covered ranging from three to 30 miles. More than 120 walkers of all ages and abilities took part, including past and present dialysis patients who were supported and joined by friends, family, doctors and nurses. Currently, the sponsorship has raised over £9,000.

If you feel that you would like to contribute to this appeal and there's still time contact Rotarian Tom Ingoldsby on 01896 755906.

Rotary in the Borders and "The Difference Charity" would like to thank everyone who has helped in any way.
