D1100 Foundation now moves to the Future Vision/New Grants Model, hereafter referred to as The New Grants Model.
Under Future Vision/New Grants Model, the grants available are District and Global Grants.
District Grants
District Grants have replaced the old District Simplified Grants.
District grants have a 2-year cycle; year 1 - planning, year 2 - implementation.
Applications for a District Grant for the Rotary year July 2013-June 2014 must be made by 21 June 2013.
To apply you must first make an informal application sending the following information by e-mail or post to The District Foundation Chairman:-
Your club name
Outline of project (1 sentence)
Project cost
Click here for Criteria for District Grants 2013-14.
After the deadline, District Foundation tabulates and reviews the informal applications and applies to The Rotary Foundation for a single amount to cover the District Grant applications. Once approved and the money has been received into the District Foundation bank account, District Grant applicants will be requested to make a full application for their project using an online application form.
Clubs do not need to be Qualified to receive a District Grant.
Global Grants
Global Grants have replaced the old Matching Grants.
Global Grants are used for larger, international projects. Projects must have a “local” and an “International” club, this was a requirement under the old matching grant system and is unchanged under Future Vision/new Grants model. The local club oversees the work and administer the funds locally as needed. The funds are held by The Rotary Foundation, and always administered in US dollars.
Both the local and the International clubs need to be Qualified in order to receive the grant. (Details see below).
The minimum grant that a project can receive from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is $15,000. Because this $15,000 is a “matched amount”, the minimum project cost is $30,000.
As with the old matching grants, TRF matches both the clubs input and the Districts input.

Club Qualification
Clubs need to be qualified in order to receive a global grant.
Qualification is for a Rotary year and there is 2 criteria for a club to be Qualified.
1) Clubs need to have, at least, one member attend the annual District seminar (or similar event) on The New Grants Model.
2) Clubs need to sign the Club Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and send a copy to the District Foundation Chairman.
The Club MOU requires supporting documentation and a template document detailing procedures and supporting the Club MOU has been developed with help of Nailsea & Backwell RC.
