Notes and Observations on the "Rotary Youth Speaks" Contestants, Hounslow 22nd February 2012.
"I witnessed some superb oratory this evening and I was in awe of your speakers. The obvious huge amount of work that had been undertaken paid off for all the teams. Their enthusiasm, dedication and teamwork were all outstanding. It was a rare pleasure to hear the eloquent expression of our language delivered with fluency and clarity by our young people. I would not wish, nor, I am sure, you would want me to, single out any team or individual for praise above any of the other competitors. Suffice it to say that they were all winners, and it was with sincere regret that we had to choose one team over another. As we mentioned, it was such a close-run contest, that single points separated the teams. It was also extremely gratifying to be able to speak with the contestants one-on-one after the meeting was closed. Their eagerness for self-improvement was commendable. I wish each and every one of them the very best of luck in the future."
