2. Rotary Young Photographer of the Year Scotland Competition, 2012
Please pass this message to your New Generations Service Chairman
With the season hovering between Winter and Spring, this year's theme 'The Last Days of Winter' is perfectly placed to inspire the imagination of young photographers and hopefully allow them to capture that winning photo. All that is required is for local Rotary clubs to promote the competition in schools, youth clubs and other young people's organisations. Entry is made easy by allowing entrants to fill in an entry form on either the District 1020 website or at www.rypscotland.org. The form can then be printed out and sent to the local Rotary Club with the photo.
The competition offers young people living in Scotland the chance to enter in one of three age group categories — under-12s, 12-15 years and 15-18 years.
Photographs can be snapped with digital or film cameras in colour or monochrome but all entries must be submitted to local Rotary clubs as prints no larger than A4 by the closing date of April 1st 2012.
Rotary clubs will be responsible for the initial judging and they will select a winner from each age category to go through to the Scottish grand final.
Have a look at the District website and read about the success for the 2010 Young Photographer winner, Julia Dransfield from Edinburgh, she now has a career in photography! One of her prizes was a voucher from Jessops and, when she went to spend it, she told staff of her success and was offered a job. Julia told us she has learned a lot from working there and is also becoming a regular photographer on the Edinburgh band scene.
Further information can be found at the District 1020 website under New Generations section or at www.rypscotland.org . If you have any queries re the competition please e-mail Peter Croan the New Generations Young Photographer Organiser.
