The dates are Friday September 21st until Sunday 23rd 2012.

The emphasis for 2012 District Conference will be Youth

It is with much pleasure that I invite you to join us for the 2012 District Conference in the city of Kingston upon Hull.

When I was asked to be District Governor, one thing I needed to do, was to decide where the Annual Conference should be held and it became obvious that my home city, where we have never had a Conference, was to be the place.

Thanks to a great deal of hard work by Conference Chair Freya Cross together with VHEY and the Conference Committee, I am delighted to say the plans are coming together very well.

The emphasis of the Conference is going to be on Youth, as I feel this has to be the way forward for Rotary in its quest to increase and maintain membership. The youth of today are the Rotarians of tomorrow.

A number of speakers have already been booked and I am sure we will present a varied, interesting and informative Conference. Alex Deakin, a National TV Weatherman has agreed to participate. He originates from North Ferriby, Hull and his father is a local Rotarian with the Hull Club.

There will be the usual entertainment, and Friday night should prove to be a relaxing and enjoyable fun evening. There will be the ‘DG Ball’ on Saturday night with a band well known to Rotarians.

We will ensure there is time for those who have not been to Hull before to explore the City and its many interesting features.

The dates are Friday September 21st until Sunday 23rd 2012, and I look forward to the opportunity to welcome you to what I am sure will be a special event in the District’s history.

Robin D. Mason.
