The FIFTH Swimathon - a joint venture between Durham County Council and the Club, at Freeman's Quay Leisure Centre.

The "headline" charities this year were Down's Syndrome North East, the Treetops Children's Unit at the University Hospital of North Durham and the City of Durham Mayor's charities - Blind Life in Durham and the Heel & Toe Children's Charity.

Over 30 teams took part this year - we thank them all and look forward to all the money coming in!

The Mayor and Mayoress with President Arthur, David Wallace and Laura Welford (who together organized the event) with the Durham Club team just before the start, early on Saturday morning.

The Durham Club and Teikyo University teams ready for the off - waiting for the Mayor to blow his whistle!

Rtn. Stewart Atkin takes it easy!

Eddy's Triers - Gran keeps an eye on little Neve -- who recieved a "goody bag" from David.

The three Treetops Teams - with friends and relatives brought in from all over the country.  The youngsters in the teams received "goody bags" for their brave efforts - spot prizes kindly provided by Freeman's Quay.

And some of our friends from Down's Syndrome North East - who always enjoy the event - and we enjoy their company.

Sunday morning and the team from the Durham Elvet Club are ready ...

... for the off ...

... Julie Proudlock and President Eileen Charlton from the Elvet Club make it look easy.

Robbie Jones, who lost his legs to meningitis when he was barely two years old, with his dad.  He put on a brave show and received a "goody bag" from David.

The team from Framwellgate School.

And last, but certainly not least ...

The Durham Inner Wheel Club team - in and out of the water.
