Let them eat cake!

Selkirk Rotary Club's Big Cake Bake brought together traybakes, tins and tents of various sizes, together with Rotarians offering a variety of skills.

"Sgt Pepper" alias John Pack and Sgt Dick Marks made their marks as installers of tents, chairs and ancillary equipment

And so the scene was set to welcome Rotarians and their wives to discover the merits of a Shelter Box, guess the weight of a cake, or try their luck in  the raffle.

The ingenious  multi-fuel stove, a part of the Shelterbox package,  was a star attraction along with Selkirk's own Jamie Oliver who demonstrated how to boil an egg on it, while the Club's newest Associate Member took on the job of tourist guide in the temporary stately home.

The afternoon of high calorie intake and Rotary fellowship was the brainchild of Adam Borwick, aided and abetted by wife Kathy.

Visiting Rotarians, neighbours and friends enjoyed the event and the proceeds of £400 in total goes to Shelterbox of which Adam is the Borders representative.

A slice of the action was had by all — some getting more that others, but their identities have been withheld to protect the guilty.
