Walk in Saltaire ~ meet visitor centre 10:45

The start event of President Davids year in office was a Walk around Saltaire Village Bradford.

Heres a few words from Robert leading into the Saltaire walk.
" After hearing the talk by Maria Glott last year it seemed a good idea that the club should have a chance to visit Saltaire with her, this I organised in July 2012, and was enjoyed by the members & family who took part on the bright sunny Sunday.
Being with Maria, with her fund of detailed stories and facts about the world Heritage Site village, brought the world of Sir Titus Salt, his family & workforce sharply into focus and into our modern lives. His building such a new concept in wool manufacturing [eg having carbon filters on the tall italianate chimneys] and housing for his workers, was aimed at the profits for him & his company but also bettered the lives of the famiies who if employed in the city would have soon succumbed to the diseases etc. which were rife at the time due to the dismal living standards and poor working conditions.
We will be hearing from Maria again as speaker at our Wives & partners meeting on 24th September"
