Details of support required by Rotary Clubs in the Calder Valley

Calder Valley Flood Appeal

As we are all aware there are significant flooding problems within the Calder Valley in many towns where we have Rotary Clubs. At present the Clubs have been trying to provide support and funds to help those in need, but it is clear that with yet another deluge on Monday resources are being stretched to the limit.

A number of clubs in the Calder Valley, especially Todmorden and Elland are supporting the Upper Valley Flood Relief Fund, co-ordinated by Community Foundation for Calderdale www.cffc.co.uk, as this is very active in making sure those in need are dealt with urgently. Currently the Community Foundation has received donations totalling £54,000 of which £38,000 has already been allocated (click here for further details).

The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge have taken a different approach and are trying to focus on their own community as they believe that there will be ‘people that drop through the net’ and they want to ensure that these people also gain support.

Obviously the commitment from the clubs in the affected areas is focussed on financially supporting those in need and any additional donations would be welcome. Many clubs across the District have been asking how they can help, we are advised by the local clubs that financial help is desperately needed and any donations would be greatly welcomed.

 Todmorden/Elland have asked for donations to be made directly to the Community Foundation for Calderdale by,

 a)      Cheques made payable to ‘Community Foundation for Calderdale’. Sent to CFFC, The 1855 Building, Discovery Road, Halifax, HX1 2NG

b)      By BACS Transfer to our CFFC Account. (Sort code: 05-04-49. Account number: 17562476)

c)      Online with debit/credit card at www.localgiving.com/cffc
