Rotary Primary School Quiz 2012-2013

Background and General. 

The District 1020 Primary School Quiz appears to have started in its current format in the South West and to have spread since about 2005 to cover most of the district.

Running the quiz is a most enjoyable and worthwhile venture but the trickiest bit can be getting the schools involved and finding an appropriate date.  Participating clubs should ask their schools to provide suitable questions which enhances the level of school involvement and participation. Good appropriate questions are the key to a successful quiz and Rotarians, with the best will in the world, are probably not the best people to devise Primary School Quiz questions, hence the need for close school collaboration. There will be probably more than 100 schools participating so if each school provides one question for each round there will be an excellent bank of questions to draw from.  

The Subject Matter.

For 2012-2013 the rounds are: 

1 Language and Literacy (includes English Language and Children's books)
2 Maths and Numeracy (includes Maths)
3 Health and Well-being (Includes Sports, Health/Diet)
4 Expressive Arts  (includes Music, Drama and Art )
5 Science (Includes simple Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Astronomy) 
6 Technology (does what is says on the tin)
7 Social Studies & Religious and Moral Education. (This round includes Current Affairs)
8 Pot Luck (Appropriate questions not covered anywhere else in the quiz)
