Jun 2013 Kids Out Day at Wimpole Hall and Farm

Wed, Jun 12th 2013 at 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

A fun activity day for children from the special schools around the Cambridge area.

As part of the annual Rotary Kids Out event in Cambridgeshire 5 Rotary Clubs from the South Cambridgeshire area co-operate together to create a very popular annual event. This is the 14th year that Sawston have taken the lead in organising this smooth running event with support from Royston, Baldock, Haverhill and South Cambridge.

This year 70 youngsters came to enjoy a picnic, a visit to the Farm and a day of fun activities outside in the sunshine, along with their dedicated carers.  Colville School-Cherry Hinton, Haverhill, Castle, Granta School-Linton and Meldreth Manor School all brought a group in their specially adapted minibuses. The Cambridge South Club sponsors the trip for the Castle Special School in Cambridge.

There were caps and t-shirts for everyone to take home, Kite making and flying, face painting (dogs, tigers and butterflies being especially popular), a Graffitti Wall, Giant Bubble making, a Bouncy Castle and a Puppet Show.

The Wimpole team prepare a field for the day and ensure access throughout the site for wheelchairs etc.  (The event will take place in any weather, as long as the field is not too water-logged to be mown).

Great Fun was had by All!!
