Young Chef District Final

A report on the final

Muller Wiseman Dairies gave a bright new look to the Young Chef Competition .Every entrant from club level up receives a striking black and white apron with the Muller Wiseman Logo emblazoned on it. A big thank you to our new sponsors who also supplied dairy products on request and the awards for the top three at our District final. This was held on Saturday,23rd February at West Lothian College, Livingston - a new venue which proved to be a very worthwhile move.

Despite a few clubs withdrawing in the early stages we still had 12 clubs taking part in the club rounds. After four area eliminations, 8 entrants came through to the District event and as always proved to be very competent Young Chefs. Age makes no difference in this competition - the youngest was 12 years of age and the oldest 17.With a high standard to judge the task was not an easy one for our two highly qualified judges on the day. Andy McDougall, a teaching chef in the hospitality dept. at West Lothian College was joined by our own Rotarian, Ian Potts from Lockerbie who similarly instructed at Dumfries and Galloway College. The final outcome was victory for Taylor Ure representing Cumbernauld.
