Hollybank Trust
Luddites visited Hollybank School on Mon 29th April 2013.
We were escorted around the Trust by Suzanne Barton.

Hollybank Trust in Mirfield, West Yorkshire offers education, residential care, therapies and nursing for children and adults with special needs. The accommodation, healthcare support and special school are open every day of the year, and can cater for those with multi-sensory impairment and people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).Set in beautiful green and historic surroundings.

We were escorted around the Trust and shown the brand new Orchard Court building by Suzanne and had refreshments in the older building with its historical connection to the Bronte sisters who were educated in the building when it was Roe Head School between 1831 to 1838.
In 1956 it became home to the Verona Fathers as a seminary college for mens training for a life in the Priesthood.
During refreshments we were shown a video of the workings of the trust and I think its true to say we were all moved to see the work the staff do for the young people and older residents.
President David thanked Suzanne for showing us around the Trust.
