Galloway reCycle Sportive

The Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright held another very successful cycle sportive on Saturday the 10th of August.

 

Two hundred and fifty four cyclists entered, ranging in age from 14 to 77 on the 67 mile route, and with the oldest cyclist completing the 102 mile route aged 68!

 

David Stewart of Deeside Thistle Cycling Club was fastest on the 67 mile route in a time of 3 Hours and 17 minutes, with Ian Stewart of Classic Racing just behind him.  Quickest woman was Samantha Mannion in a time of 4 Hours 7 minutes, with Martha Beacham second fastest in the same time.

 

Lucy Coldwell of BCC averaged almost 21 mph to record the fastest time over 102 miles of 4 hours 56 minutes, with Tommy Lockhart of CRT also finishing in just under 5 hours. Martin Stone, Managing Director of Sportident, who time numerous similar events, said
