Regular Melas are held in Preston, Leyland and on the Fylde Coast, and more are being planend in Carnforth and Carlisle.
At a Health Mela you can visit different exhibitors who can provide you with advice and information on medical matters. There are free sessions where you can talk to professionals about your health and get a free personal health check. This isn't to replace your Doctor, but provides a convenient way to get advice in your community.
Rotary is helping to run these events in partnership with the National Forum for Health and Well Being. Here is a link to the NFHW site. www.nfhw.org.uk/
If you are interested in holding a Mela in your area please contact the Past District Governor (PDG) Kevin Walsh or Rotarian Romesh Gupta.
PDG Kevin says : “It was been great pleasure to be invited to take part in the two Health Melas in 2013/14. The improvement of Health & Wellbeing in our communities is a key aspect of what Rotary aims to do in the world. I am keen to use the experience gained by the Rotary Clubs of Leyland and Blackpool Palatine and their colleagues in the National Forum for Health & Well Being to further the development of these important events throughout the rest of Lancashire and into Cumbria.”
