District Young Musician 2014
On Saturday York hosted some tremendously talented young musicians at the National Centre for Early Music, taking part in the sixth annual Rotary in Yorkshire District 1040 Young Musician Final.
25 competitors aged between 10 and 18, representing the Rotary Clubs of Aireborough, Halifax, Keighley, Northallerton, Pickering, Pocklington and Market Weighton, Ripon/Ripon Rowels and York Vikings, competed in 3 separate age groups. Performers played to a near capacity audience in an attempt to convince adjudicators, Clive Harries and Josephine Peach, of their musical talent, and talent it certainly was, the overall standard being amazingly high.
The competition was organised by the President Elect of the Rotary Club of York Vikings Peter D Acaster and his wife Ann, and was hosted by York Vikings. Prizes were presented by District Governor of Rotary District 1040, Mark Stewart-Clark.
