Chipping Norton Festival a Success

Sun, Jun 22nd 2014 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

The sixth Chipping Norton Town Festival, run by the Rotary Club of Chipping Norton, was a fantastic success.

A Fantastic Day for Chipping Norton - The Beat Goes On
It was a superb, cloudless and sun-soaked day on Sunday 12th June for this year's Chipping Norton Town Festival.  Mayor Mike Tysoe opened the proceedings after a flurry of activity getting the Market Place ready for a day of non-stop fun, music and activity.

The show opened with a well-attended church service, and new group Breeze closed the show at 8.40pm. In between there was non-stop music, while stalls sold a whole measure of things: there were roasts and burgers, sweets, plants for the garden and all manner of interesting products to peruse.  There was the traditional "Interesting Car Show" with classic as well as unuasual cars on view and there was an area for children with carousel and inflatable slide.
St Mary's School singing club comprises children from year 2 to year 6. Jasmine and James are from the Guildhall School of Music and Jasmine is a local lass and the daughter of a Rotary Club member.
The show was organised by the Rotary Club of Chipping Norton and very ably assisted by non-rotarians from the town. Thanks in particular to Arthur and Joyce Taylor for organising the stalls, Kevin Cooper and Mike Cooper for arranging the music and all committee members for a fantastic job. It was estimated that 2000 visited the festival which was a success in every respect, and it is estimated that £2500 - the net profit this year - will be available to split between several local charities.
This is the sixth year of the Festival, and the third year the Rotary Club has organised it.  If the weather is as generous next year it is hoped there will be even more available for charity.
