The Big Walk

Sun, Sep 14th 2014 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

As part of Wiltshire Council Big Walk, members of Melksham Rotary will take on parts of the challenge.

Local residents are being encouraged to get their walking shoes on to help support two charities.

The Big Walk, organised by Cllr Jon Hubbard and staff at local Melksham stores Co-op and ASDA, is a charity walk taking place on 13/14 September 2014 between Melksham and Bath, taking in a scenic route along the way.

The walk has been organised to support two charities, Melksham Extended Services and Hope for Tomorrow. Melksham Extended Services is a local charity working with children, young people and their families in the Melksham Community Area. Hope for Tomorrow is a national cancer charity dedicated to bringing cancer treatment closer to patients' homes.

The Big Walk is supported by Wiltshire Council, Selwood Housing, Greensquare, ASDA, Co-op and First Great Western

The walking route, which is approximately 17 miles, will take part in two legs from the Market Place in Melksham down to the canal at Semington and along the towpath to Bath. Participants will have the choice of walking either of the two legs or the entire distance.
