We support the Knighton Food Bank

Wed, Feb 18th 2015 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

After a pleasant meal we were proud to donate £500 to this worthwhile charity.

Helen Anderson from the Food Bank explained the role they had, in supporting those in the most desparate need. Those who come for help have nothing - ie if they suddenly lose their job and apply for unemployment benefit but have no money coming in until their application is processed. The Food Bank gives them three days of essential rations to help them through this difficult time. The Food Bank is run independently, with support from Churches Together locally. Food and provisions are donated by the general public via boxes in local supermarkets, churches, and so on. Cash donations, such as ours, is used to buy fresh food for those in need as well as to cover running costs. It is good to know that our support helps the charity care for those in our community in the greatest need...
