Rotary Youth Leadership Award is a Rotary International program for young people to develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship amongst their communities.
ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD
RYLA 2019 - Sunday 7th -12th April and 14th – 19th April.
Applicants can choose whichever week is more convenient; once one of the weeks has the full complement of 60 then applicants will have to accept a place on the remaining week.
As last year, I will accept a hold for a place or places, but do ask that both an application form and payment is received by 15th December, after which the hold will be released. The latest date for receiving applications will be 5 days prior to the start of a course. However I do urge you not to leave it to the last moment as there may not be a place available.
Having been ‘on seat’ for two years and seen at first-hand what the course offers, it is very clear to me that the students had been exposed to something very special and had come away from it as very different individuals from when they arrived on the Sunday, and the comments I have heard from the students and parents all bear witness to this. It would be difficult to over-stress the benefits these future leaders gained from their 5 days at High Ashurst.
I am once again asking all clubs to embrace RYLA; the cost of the course is £405, a small increase on last year occasioned by an increase in the fee charged by the Centre. Given this covers food and accommodation for 5 nights, transport and access to the Centre’s facilities and it’s experienced staff, it remains great value for money. If you throw in the life-changing effect it can have on attendees, I think it fair to say it will be the best £405 investment you will make this Rotary year.
