Denbigh Food Bank Collection

Denbigh Food Bank held a very successful collection at Morrisons, Denbigh on Friday and Saturday September 11th and 12th where members of The Rotary Club of Denbigh helped to man the stall. Rotarians helping out were Walter, Gwyrfai and Elfed.

The Vale of Clwyd food bank has now been in existence for 3 years. We are part of a national network run by the Trussell Trust which works in partnership with Tesco. We have a depot in Denbigh and another in Ruthin. Our aim is to provide emergency food aid for individuals and families who find themselves in a temporary crisis situation. We are only allowed to give food 3 times in every 6 month period to the same person. Neither are people allowed to just turn up and collect food. Every client has to have been given a voucher by a person in authority who knows their situation such as their doctor, social worker, headteacher of the school which their children attend or by an organisation such as CAB.

Even though we have these rules we still see that there is a need for a food bank even in the Vale of Clwyd. We have been able to feed many hundreds of adults and children over the years. The help that we are able to provide (along with other organisations) has enabled many of our clients to regain control of their lives and to resume work.

We would like to recognise the help which we have received over the years from generous individuals and organisations in the area.
