Annual Swimathon - the ninth!

... in fact it was almost a complete Marchant Family outing - they were joined by Anne Wright who worked with Pauline at the Treetops Children's Ward.
A team from the Durham Johnston School. Between them, they swam an amazing 290 lengths in the 30 minutes!
And then it was the turn of the Downs Syndrome teams - each with an appropriate theme - Dad's Army ...
... Strictly Come Dancing .. and Bake Off, Big Brother, X Factor and Britain's Got Talent ...
... these youngsters certainly have talent - The Dad's Army Team.
And Stricty Come Dancing. How they enjoyed themselves - and we enjoyed their enjoyment.
Sunday morning and the Deputy Mayor, Bill Moir, came with his Deputy to see the fun. Here with President Pauline and Secretary Judy.
Cheesy Waffles fielded several teams. This was the first in the water. They all enjoyed themselves and we praised their efforts.
We were at Freeman's Quay once again for our annual Swimathon.
Another enjoyable and rewarding weekend!
A total of 30 teams took part:-
Rotary Triers - 1 team from our Club;
Inner Wheel Triers - 1 team from the Inner Wheel Club of Durham;
St. Leonards School Boat Club - 7 teams;
Durham Johnston School - 1 team;
Elvet Oldies - 1 team from Elvet Methodist Church;
Down's Syndrome North East - 6 teams;
Cheesy Waffles Youth Project - 3 teams;
Framwellgate School - 4 teams;
Dippers & Divers - 1 team from Neville's Cross Primary School;
Durham School - 1 team;
Sea Cadets - 3 teams;
The Swans - 1 team from the Rotary Club of Durham Elvet.
All sponsorship money received will be split so that:-
1/3 goes to the Mayor's Charity: Veterans at Ease,
1/3 goes to our nominated charities: Down's Syndrome North East and The Cheesy Waffles Youth Project,
1/3 goes to the participants' nominated charities.
