Young Musician Winners
The winner (sponsored by RC Mendip) was a 17 year-old violinist Cristina
Dimitrova, a pupil at Wells Cathedral School. She goes through to the regional
competition in Taunton together with the best vocalist Gregory Steward
(sponsored by RC Taunton).
Great Britain and Ireland is home to some of the most talented young instrumentalists and vocalists in the world. RIBI celebrates this talent with a sequence of competitions that offer thousands of young people the chance to showcase their musical skills - classical and modern. The competition is open to 11 - 17 year olds.
The D1200 competition which will take place at Kings of
Wessex School, Cheddar on Sunday 5 March from 2pm to (about) 6pm.
it is the turn of D1200 to host the RYM Regional Finals and this event will
take place two weeks later – Sunday 19 March in The Queens Hall at Queens
College, Taunton and also at 2pm.
Those of you who have attended RYM in the past will
know what a very high standard of musical performance is achieved by the
youngsters nominated to enter, and this is especially so for the Regional event
which sees all the first round winners (vocalists and instrumentalists)
competing. A full and appreciative audience for both events will be a great
reward for the youngsters who are giving up their time to take part, and I do
hope that all of you (plus spouses of course) will be able to join us on both
Sundays if possible.
Your club will need to complete it's local heat by 10th February 2017
