ROTARY CLUB OF RHYL With Rotary clubs throughout the United Kingdom already put on alert to support the provision of more potential live-saving defibrillators in public places, two local clubs have wasted no time in answering the call, as Rhyl’s Ysgol Emmanuel can vouch. When Roy Hamilton, President of St Asaph Rotary Club, learned that the School had a pupil with a specific heart condition which had convinced their PTA that this apparatus would be a valuable asset, he spread the word and found neighbours Rhyl enthusiastic responders. The upshot of this dual interest was the presentation of a £200 donation from the Rhyl club by President Rod Brocklehurst at a ceremony at the School. “The School’s PTA have donated the major portion of the cost but we were delighted to make this contribution to what is clearly a deserving and important asset for the school to possess,” he explained. “This is also a good example of the benefit to the wider community of networking between Rotary clubs in our region.” Head teacher Mrs Allison Mathias explained how the equipment would be used in an emergency as the operator is talked through the procedure by a recorded voice and she warmly thanked both clubs for their most welcome and encouraging support.
