Planting crocus bulbs for Polio eradication

Rhyl Rotary Club Spells it out for Polio Eradication As part of the drive to publicise Rotary International’s ‘End Polio Now’ campaign Rotary Clubs in Britain are planting purple crocuses as well as selling purple crocus buttonholes. The purple crocus matches the colour of the dye painted on the fingers of children who have been immunised. For every £1 raised the Bill and Belinda Gates Foundation will add £2. Last Saturday morning Rhyl Rotarians braved the cold and wind as they planted almost two thousand purple crocus corms on East Parade’s roadside lawn near Splash Point. When the crocuses flower they will spell out the word ‘ROTARY’
