Our Club's annual art competition for local primary schools. This year's theme is "The Great War".

In 2018, this year of commemorating the centenary of the end of the Great War, it was appropriate that this was the topic chosen for the subject of Oswestry Rotary Club's annual Millicent Kaye Art Competition for Primary School children. With over 200 entries from 9 schools the competition judge Joan Turner was faced with the huge task of selecting the winning entries from such a large and accomplished field.

President Dave Davies was therefore delighted to present the prize winners and their schools with certificates and cheques for their achievements at the opening of the exhibition of work at Qube this week. "What an inspiring collection of artworks. You can see how well the pupils had researched the subject. I hope it helped them find out more about The Great War. How does the judge make her choice?" said Dave. "I wonder what the subject will be next year?"

"It was a topic that our children could really do their research around; we produced paintings, models and clay items - all valuable art media for their studies" said one of the teachers present.

There were many deserving commendations but the winning entries were made by

2-D Winner Charlie Miller - Moreton Hall
2-D 2nd Lauren Doodson - Holy Trinity
2-D 3rd Ruby Prust - Trefonen
3-D 1st Prize Oliver Hamlett - Our Lady and St Oswald
3-D 2nd Prize Charlie Bird - Moreton Hall

The Millicent Kaye Award 2018 was presented to Holy Trinity C Of E Primary Academy whose pupils were judged to have made the greatest effort.

The exhibition of selection of the entries, including the winners, is open to all at The Qube until 30th June.
