At a recent weekly meeting of The Rotary Club of Halifax, our local MP Holly Lynch was welcomed as an Honorary Member into its club.

Holly was delighted to join the club as she aspires to the ideal of Rotary’s motto that is “Service above Self”.

President Canon Hilary Barber was delighted Holly was supporting Rotary’s ideals of service and affirmed that the club’s activities in the community during his year of office would aim to help as many as they could who were in need.

The club will work even closer during the next couple of years with as many primary schools as possible to get Rotary’s message across that we all need to ‘help each other’. Canon Hilary also said that Rotary’s Community Shoebox Appeal 2017 was to be launched this month to run October through to December with the expectation of delivering up to 2,000 filled shoeboxes as presents during the run up to Christmas. The Halifax Courier will as usual, as it has over the last six years provide its full support to this very worthwhile community project.
