On 23rd January 2018 Christine Lake, the long time secretary of Whitehorse Youth Centre, was invited to the Rotary meeting for a presentation on the occasion of her retirement.
Vocational Service is one of the 5 Avenues of Service in which rotarians use their skills to help society and make a difference in the world. From its inception in the mid 1930's Croydon Boys Club, later called Whitehorse Youth Centre has been supported by a number of members of Croydon Rotary Club. At the meeting held on 23rd January 2018 Christine Lake, the long time secretary, was invited to the rotary meeting for lunch with her husband. Many of the present rotarians who continue to support the Centre were present to witness a presentation to Christine on the occasion of her retirement. Christine is pictured with Rotarian Edward Handley who made the presentation. This is a good example of rotarians demonstrating Vocational Service in action.
