Christmas Trees for Local Schools

It’s December again and the Newport Pagnell Rotarian Father Christmas springs in to action with his rusty helpers to deliver Christmas Trees to thirteen schools in the Newport Pagnell, Wolverton and Bradwell areas.

On 1st December Father Christmas set out from his ‘Lapland Base’ (aka – Rtn John Neale’s park in Broughton) and together with Mrs Father Christmas (Rtn Sandy), Elf and Safety (Rtn Howard) and senior sleigh driver (Rtn John N). Struggling through the rush hour traffic, the first delivery was made at North Crawley First School. The route had been carefully planned by the transport manager and Christmas Tree Delivery Elf to minimise the distance the ‘reindeer’ had to travel and took in Sherrington, Emberton, Olney, Wolverton, New Bradwell, Portfields, Green Park, Cedars, Newport Pagnell and Broughton.

At each school Father Christmas caused great excitement for both children and staff and was asked many questions, particularly with regards to the reindeer. Fortunately for Father Christmas, he wasn’t asked to name each reindeer. At Slated Row, the children sang and ‘signed’ the carol We Saw Three Ships come Sailing In.

A good morning was had by all and each school received a certificate from the Club. Thanks must also go to Frosts Garden Centre in Woburn Sands for assisting in the sourcing of the Christmas Trees.
