Our annual litter pick with the Civic Society
Once again the club teamed up with members of the Civic Society for the annual clean up of the area around the Fishing Heritage
Centre. The council very kindly supplied us with litter pickers ,plastic bags
and collected the full bags.
We assembled near the waste bins of the FHC ctr park and
teamed up in pairs. Some went to the end of the Alexandra Dock near Corporation Bridge, others went the other way to Frederick Ward Way bridge. Whilst others
tackled the shrubbery near the municipal car parks and some the shrub beds near Sainsburys. As before (

cans,beer bottles,spirit bottles ,water bottles,dog poo bags,paper wrappers and
shopping trolleys in the dock.We had to leave these! It was obvious that the litter had been there for some considerable time and was embedded in the soil.
We also found a body,(but he was asleep ,in the shrubbery),a
tyre and ladies underwear! But a marked reduction in plastic shopping bags.
After two hours we had collected 31bags of rubbish. I am
sure that we will find that same next
