Home | Grants | Matching Grants
Through Matching Grants The Rotary Foundation matches contributions raised by Rotary clubs and districts for international service projects involving Rotary clubs or districts in two or more countries. The Foundation provides a 1:1 for District Designated Funds Share contributions and a 0.5:1 match for new cash contributions. Applications are accepted from 1st July to 31st March and approved from 1st August to 15th May. Requests over US$25,000 are considered by the Trustess at the biannual meetings. Requests below $25,000 are considered on a rolling basis subject to the availability of funds which are allocated on a annual basis. However the minimum grant award is US$5000
All grants of the Rotary Foundation require the highest attention to stewardship.Progress reports are required every twelve months for the life of the project(s).A final report is due within two months of the of the project's completion.. A District Simplified Grant(DSG) is a tool to enable the District and/or its clubs to support short-term humanitarian projects that benefit the community either locally or internationally.
Grant projects must
*Address a humanitarian condition that benefits a community in need*Have significant Rotary involvement and visible Rotary identification
*Demonstrably benefit no less than six individuals directly-benefit the community as as a whole
*Involve participation and monitoring by Rotarians of clubs/districts in at least two countries.One country will be the local or host project country and one will be theinternational sponsor country.Each participating club/district must establish a committee of at least two Rotarians(three from 1st July 2006) to oversee and report both to each other every twelve months and to The Rotary Foundation on the project's progress and completion
*Not duplicate any existing Foundation or other Rotary-sponsored programme.
*Exclude any liability to the Rotary Foundation or to Rotary International except for the amount of the grant.
*Be distinct ie.of a different type or category of project from any other projects for which the same applicants have already received a Matching Grant within the past five Rotary years.
Matching Grant funds cannot be used for
*For the purchase of land or buildings or the construction of substantial buildings*Renovation,refurbishment or upgrading of existing facilities.Acceptable construction projects include service roads,wells,reservoirs,dams,latrines,toilet blocks and water supplies.
*For the payment of salaries or other personnel costs
*International travel expenses of any kind unless the travel is essential and integral to the project's implementation-limited to 10% of the project budget.
*The Rotary Foundation will not use Matching Grant funds to reimburse clubs/districts for projects already undertaken and in progress or completed.
