Burn House, Glenesk, Edzell
Bursar of the Burn house Glenesk Edzell, Colonel David Turner welcomed Laurencekirk and district Rotarians and friends to a guided tour of the grand old residence. He gave a detailed outline of it's history and it's list of previous colourful owners and residents.
Originally a Georgian property The Burn was extensively altered in the early 20th century as a family home to the Russell family laterly donated to the Goodenough College in memory of their son James who was killed in action during WW2. The House now acts as a residential place of study for students from all over and the within the house and it's glorious surroundings acts as a precious and stimulating retreat for academics of all ages. We were indebted to the staff for feeding us and Col Turner for his welcome and enthusiastic wealth of information.
