Rotarian Lionel Twiss of RC of Thirsk received a carton of 6,000 coloured pencils from Alison Darwent (Product Manager) of The Cumberland pencil company of Kendal Cumbria which will be taken by the Rotarians attending the official opening of the Yorkshire school on November 24th

The Cumberland pencil Company have previously sponsored the Art competitions as part of Thirsk Festival and with the prospect of taking something useful out to give the 400 children at the Yorkshire school in Sri Lanka on their opening day, Thirsk Rotary club contacted the company to ask if they could help with a supply of their pencils. Alison Darwent responded by arranging the wonderfully generous donation of a carton containing some 6,000 assorted pencils. Rotarian Lionel Twiss kindly drove up to collect the carton of pencils from the company Head Quarters in Kendal.

Thirsk Rotarian Tony Jordan, who will be in the district party travelling to Sri Lanka for the school opening said that he will ask the children to draw pictures by way of a thank you, so that he might then take a selection of such pictures to the Cumberland Pencil company on his return.
