Donation of a defibrillator for the Bridge of Don community

Rotary club of Aberdeen Balgownie

The Rotary club of Aberdeen Balgownie donated £1,500 to the Bridge of Don and Danestone First Responders Service, to fund the purchase of a Public Access Defibrillator (PAD).  This includes a cabinet for housing the defibrillator in an easily identifiable and accessible location within the Bridge of Don. This adds to the potential lifesaving, existing 2 PADs located within the community .

In the event of someone suffering a cardiac arrest, the PAD is accessed by dialling 999 and the operator will issue the PIN code for opening the cabinet and dispatch an ambulance.   The defibrillator comes with easy to follow instructions and is designed be used without any training. Use of the equipment could provide the extra few minutes to keep someone alive, whilst waiting for an ambulance.

The club wishes to thank the First Responders for their advice on the purchase of the defibrillator and supervising its installation.  We look forward to future collaborations

Gordon Hepburn,  Vice President,   The Rotary club of Aberdeen Balgownie.
